Xtreme Penalty Shootout showcased at 3G World Congress

November, 2005: At the 3G World Congress in Hong Kong, the Siemens Communications Group premiered the first marketable application from its worldwide IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) Developer Program. Within the framework of this program, partner companies develop IMS applications for Second and Third Generation mobile networks with support from Siemens. The application shown in Hong Kong, Xtreme Penalty Shootout,? was developed by DeviceDriven. and certified by Siemens. The object of the game: The players use their mobiles to compete against one another in an eleven-meter shootout over the mobile network.

A partnership with the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), a local government authority, is intended to foster the development of IMS-based applications. Within the framework of this collaboration, Siemens trains IMS application developers and supports them by making a test center available. This enables the partner companies to be even faster and more cost-effective in readying IMS applications for market. The objective of the IDA is to spark greater interest in the utilization of 3G wireless technology in Singapore.

Siemens launched the IMS Developer Program (IDP) eight months ago, and offers programmers extensive software development tools. Access to live IMS test centers enables online certification of the applications. Over 100,000 partner companies and private participants are already registered in the developer community.
